The nearest grocery store to us is an Aldi, so inevitably we're in there for the occasional whatever. Not generally wine, though, to put it mildly. But a sub-$18 Champagne? The curiosity was too much. While nobody's going to mistake it for Cedric Bouchard, it's more than decent. Certainly a step up from Veuve Clicquot, anyway, in that it's got mineral, acid and some evidence of lees contact. Bubbles could be tighter, but that's a minor quibble at this price. To scratch my itch for real Champagne for less than twenty bucks is a commendable achievement. I wish they'd keep this around all year.

If I rated this two days ago when I opened it it would have got a 7.5. It was closed, muted, and slightly acrid. Now, after 2 days in the wine fridge (just sucked the air out) it's pretty damn pleasant. Still quite simple but mellow, with nice fruit and toast. Would urge anyone that has a bottle to decant!! Really!

Crisp apple and mineral lead with a dry tight finish. Slight biscuit and almond on the finish. Paired great with cheese board on New Year’s Eve. Crazy value for $19.99 at Aldi. If tastes blind would guess this was a more expensive champagne. Wish I could find this all year long.

Non-vintage - almonds, pears. Has a bit of funky fruit compote aspect.

For the price point, fantastic. Ignoring price, still a very good bottle
