Italian red blend from Aldi for $8. Nose of vanilla and black cherry. Big fruit up front of black currant, plum, berries followed by some vanilla and spice notes. Slight heat from the 14.5 alcohol on the moderate finish. Has enough acidity to keep things interesting and would pair well with food, but also nice on its own. Would buy again. — 3 years ago
Loved this summer sipper in a glass. Lemon and jasmine on the nose, green apple and lemon on the palette with limestone and honey finish. Great white blend from France. Terrific QPR. $7.99 Binny’s. — 3 years ago
Very fruit forward, little oak, slight acidic mid-pallet. Vanilla, plum and a little oak on the moderate finish. This is a very nice inexpensive merlot. Bonus points for being organic. $9.00

Big juicy pinot grigio like nothing I’ve ever tasted before. Skin contact imparts a rose color which I’ve never seen in a pinot grigio. Strawberry, watermelon and stone fruit up front with a subtle mineral backbone. Huge mouthfeel. If I tasted blind I would never guess varietal. Bonus points for being organic. $12 Caputos. Would buy again. — 3 years ago
Citrus, green apple and vanilla up front with a nice balanced oak finish. Really good QPR for under $10 at Binny’s. Like that this is made with organic grapes. — 3 years ago
Interesting half bottle included in Costco’s summer wine sampler box. Apricot and melon up front with a mineral and salinity finish. — 3 years ago
This is a favorite. Classic California Chardonnay, but balanced and not an oak/butter bomb. Juicy green apple, lime zest, pineapple with butter and oak undertones. Full mouthfeel with vanilla and a bit of acid and mineral on the medium finish to keep it from being too flabby. — 3 years ago
Tart cherry, raspberry with watermelon rind and faint green pepper on the palette. Has a round mouth feel that was surprising and some mineral on the finish. Decent summer sipper from Costco summer sampler box. — 3 years ago
Really nice red blend. Pepper and earthy on the nose. Tobacco, leather, raisin and blackberry with a silky finish. Lighter mouthfeel than expected. Low acid and surprising low tannins. Great wine for $10 at Binny’s. — 3 years ago

Really good Oregon Pinot Noir. Dark cherry, oak, cranberry and tins if vanilla and some mineral on the finish. Low tannins but enough acid to pair great with food. Great QPR for under $15 at Binny’s. — 7 months ago
