Great nose of leather, cassis, minerals, smoke, wild mint and some tweed jacket. Bordeaux like aromas with a Tuscan twist. Really great nose and super expressive. Palate is juicy and silky with terrific freshness and purity. Fruit is cassis all the way and the finish is all mineral, Tuscan freshness. Terrific as usual. Great inner mouth aromas and silky but substantial tannins with a lovely tanginess on the finish. This is the second vintage I have really dug. 100% Cabernet. Now as it airs there is lovely cuban tobacco on the nose. Great concentration and a lot of material but never heavy.

Delicious. Bramble and black currant leaf and fruit, with black raspberry. Fun and almost tutti fruity, but then there is a real structure. Sweet but somehow not at all over the top.

Sep 16th, 2022Second bottle in less than a week and this is a smokeshow. Pure Cab. Such a good wine. What a nose. Tobacco, cigar, not Marlboro, awesome layered cassis, ripe berry, so ebullient, better aromas than my first bottle. This is really something else. Mint, raspberry. So complex and inviting. Palate is just so silky and structured. Concentrated like a mofo and man is it pure and juxtaposed with such intense minerality and it is mega fresh because it’s Tuscan Cabernet. Superb. Just superb. So hard to get wines like this right. Tuscan soul, Bordeaux heart, Ca cab 70’s brain. Like a Graves/St. Estephe cross. Gravelly and woodsy. Really tows that line between ripeness and freshness so well.

Nov 21st, 2020New vintage. Nose is spicey, complex with an alluring cassis and tobacco profile. Good minerals and leather. Palate is juicy, structured and so deep. Delicious and as good as the 2016. Structured and meant to age but has explosively pure and deep fruit. Massive fruit. So concentrated and so fresh. Awesome. There is some mild oak that is not distracting as the structure, mineralIty and fruit is so impressive. Elite Bordeaux level here. Terrific. 9.4 with almost no air. Will track.

Nov 15th, 2020Nice nose of tobacco, tobacco leaf, pencil shavings on this 100% Cabernet from Tuscany. Cooling blue and red fruits and nice mineralIty. Nice aromatic spectrum to the nose. Palate is ripe and juicy with exquisite balance and purity. Best wine from Petra by far. Pure and sappy fruit that is sweet with really good tannins. Killer freshness and texture. Suave and elegant tannins. Very juicy and clean. Excellent. Terrific depth and structure. This is very serious and shows off how good 16 is in Tuscany. Maybe a 9.4.

Nose is slightly vegetal. Blackberry flowers.
Palate is soft blackberries. Elegantly delicious. Very good acidic balance.
A wine of this quality Would be $200 in Napa. A solid value at $32.
As this opens I get some elegant smoke. Ok. Maybe a $300 Bottle of Napa cab. Worth $40. :-)

Nose of blackberries, currants, cherries, spices, plums and peppercorn.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, plums, cherries, peppercorn, vanilla, licorice and cedar.
Medium bodied.
Medium finish with soft tannins and black pepper.
14.5 percent alcohol by volume.
At $60 price tag, it is a little much for what you get.
