Petites Secondes
Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
Ruby with aromas of fresh fruit, herbs and floral spice. On the palate flavors of raspberry, cherry and pepper spice with notes of rose pedals. Fine dusty tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit and sweet floral notes. Drink now, no further aging benefit. To me falls a little short for the price, better ones out there at similar price points.

Jul 8th, 2019Deep garnet purple. Shy nose yields black cherry and other dark fruits. Echoed on the palate with weak black tea and a touch of spice. Medium body. Medium minus(!) acidity. Low tannins. A bit more “crowd pleasing” than I’d like or expect from Drouhin and Willamette Valley, but a well-made wine nonetheless. There could be some development as I’ve found Pinots like this can age gracefully. Drink by (or don’t drink until) 2026.

Feb 17th, 2020Dark fruits of blackberry and blueberry are prominent. A touch of spice weaves through but doesn’t overpower. I don’t detect a lot of the usual earthiness and dustiness that comes with Williamette Pinot. More fruit forward.
