Tart cherry, tobacco, licorice, mint and smoky accents. Balanced tannins and great acidity. Excellent Rosso and a tremendous value. Some of my colleagues will disagree as to the worth of this wine and others in the same class, but I have always appreciated them for their freshness, acidity and food versatility. There is no denying the superb value of a Rosso from a good year coming from a reputable Brunello producer. Pertimali seems to put together great-tasting, elegant Rosso wines even in lesser years and it’s hard to believe that this wine has spent no time in oak. The purity of Sangiovese speaks from start to finish and, well, I like that.

Surprisingly good for a twenty year old Rosso. Cherries, red fruits, all mature and married to that old time earthiness. Perfect with homemade Philly cheesesteak. Need to try with homemade pizza from yesterday.
