Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

Anniversary wine. Needs a lot of air. After an hour and a half, it starts to strut.

This is pretty much everything I want Sangiovese to be. This was captivating immediately with spicy, smoky aromatics mixed with a spicy cherry palate of which all I could remark to myself was "alive". Wonderful power, and at an effortless weight which makes this complex, deep wine in danger of a quick disappearance as it is way too easy to drink. Amazing.

A plethora of dried floral notes: lavender, rose petal, and white flowers. Loamy soil, tobacco-laden red fruit, dried citrus peel, and some secondary wet clay. Really harmonious and in a haunting way.

My last Brunello from 2010 vintage 😢
Complex aroma: cognac, vanilla, licorice, anise and dry cherry.
Dry and smooth.

Finally opened the 2010 magnum. It needed a lot of air. Day two was much better. Lots of cherry and tobacco. Lovely.

Wonderful. Rich and complex with a smoothness. This is definitely drinking well now.

A lovely brunello. Old world style. Lots of dark fruit. Cherry, blackberry. Well integrated tannins and smooth long finish. Drinking well now.

Delicious drinking Brunello that had lots of floral & spice showing notes of red cherry, dried herbs, leather, spice box, rose petal & tobacco leaf with drying tannins.

One of the better '10s I've had from brunello, will get even better

Full body with strong tannins. Velvety smooth. Best I had all year. Hey the year is young though!
