Nabbed the restaurant’s last bottle of this. Not the riserva but the regular Taurasi. Dark blackberry and plum, tobacco, copious earth, mushroom and leather. Still quite structured but drinkable. Felt like it was maybe drying out a bit at the end but could have been getting the dregs.

Captivating is the word, as the 2010 Taurasi explodes from the glass with an earthy blend of black raspberry and savory spices complicated by nuances of sweet tobacco and ash. This is deeply textural, with waves of dark ripe fruit offset by stimulating acidity, sour citrus and a salty flourish toward the close. This finishes smoky, structured and long, with lingering kalamata olive and savory herbs notes, all framed by hulking tannins. The future is bright, and its balance is perfect, yet today, the 2010 is almost painful to taste. My best advice is to bury it in the cellar. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2023)

Stewed-prunes flavored wine that went well with steak. Aged enough so that it lacks any harsh tannins.

Outstanding on every level. Barolo has some competition.

Black plum, violet and red and black pepper on the nose. Elegantly smooth texture even with bright and dark berry playing off each other for a rounded depth that pairs well and also stars contemplatively as well. Beautiful aglianico with love of place.
