Couldn’t keep up my note taking with the multiple bottles of excellent wine being presented. I didn’t realise that RWT went back as far as 1997. Very much a Barossa Valley red from Penfolds. Top Quality ripe fruit and Oak - in this case French oak. Good but not great. I have had better examples of RWT.

En Magnum. A bit tired on the nose. Palate is still fine but won’t see any progress if keeps aging.

Latest release. Exploded with blueberry and blackberry. Fruit forward. Smooth tannin, surprisingly easy drinking at this stage. Not very complex.

Winner of Penfolds Tasting at NCWC. Beautiful powerful Syrah, but at eight years it has mellowed wonderfully. Balanced and elegant, this wine can probably go for another ten years. (97 Pts from Wine Enthusiast).

Tannin still holding strong, blackberry jam, cherry, eucalyptus bouquet. Dry, fragile yet poised

Iron fist power. Mint chocolate, figs, dried plums. Chewy, lengthy finish

A taste gifted by an employee.
Had been open for 24 hours but it's large stance held up somewhat.
Silky and gluggable which is what we all want right?

It's a wine for the cellar! It has all the characters of a great wine but it just needs some more time in the cellar. I have another bottle but I will cellar it for a least another 10 - 15 years minimum
