"Il Padrino" Bien Nacido Vineyard Syrah

Drinking great, captures what I often love in Santa Barbara Syrahs; CA sunshine in the fruit, generous without overbearing, balanced acids. Ripe black and blue fruit, almost liqueur-like, sweet spices, licorice whip, roasted coffee. Certainly NW in style but very well made.

Paul's wines are exquisite and intriguing. One taste makes me want much more.

Paul makes some of the best Syrah in the region, but I wish this one gave a little more. Maybe it was the vintage with a little late rain, this wine is very one dimensional - all about oak. Struggled to get much aromatics out of it, black olive, burnt toast, black cherry, and some pepper. Flavor is very rich with vanilla and oak barrel spiced.

It's been a Syrah kind of evening- finally cool enough ;)

Not what I expected but good.

One of Paul Lato's finest. Bien Nacido with a beautiful nose and stone fruits. Inky black out of the bottle. Loads of berries and plum. Classic finish with great length. This could easily keep for another 10. Touché on this one.

Give this air. It is not pop and pour inho. Under rated since I did. Not even sure how this got pulled given the year. Mistake.

This would have merited a higher score had I consumed it earlier. I waited a little too long.

Felt like a medium bodied wine that I was expecting to be bigger. But the wine was smooth. Very well blended .

A plum, some chocolate and smoked meat. Delicious.
