Checking in— 3+ hour decant and yeah it’s very young and very tannic. Not much to show at this point, mostly smoke, black pepper and some subdued fruit. Hold, or really don’t buy at all because there are too many better wines at its price point. Jaboulet, I think, is yesteryear’s news. Really nothing impressive since 1990. Young or not.

Much more meat, wet earth, smoke, leather, resinous herbs, licorice. Fruits dominated by black/blue character, almost roasted in nature. Tannins are quite persistent but this should age well.

This is a deep ruby wine.
It offers robust notes of leather, anise, black cherry, pipe tobacco, peppercorn, nutmeg, baking spice, and earthiness; it has smooth, well-integrated, and velvety tannins.
100% Syrah 13.5% ABV.
