Off year???? Don’t think so. Full. Silky smooth. Great tannins.

This cork challenged my ah so skills but I prevailed. Slow clap 👏🏽 for me. Decanted for 6 hours and it was in a really nice place. Dark dark fruits, smokey game meats, cloves, herbs and white pepper. Still quite young and on the ascension.

La Chapelle, the queen of the vineyards of #Hermitage and it's top producer #PaulJabouletAnne did a fine job in 2006,refreshing yet tobacco leaf & spicy masculine depth

Wine of the night, of course. 2-hr decant, could have gone for more. Opened slowly and we reveled in its charms. Classic Hermitage profile, roast meat, iron-rich (liver), olives, soy sauce, citrus peel. Multifaceted. Succulent nose. Delicious right now but could go for a while. Brilliant stuff.

Big bold Syrah from northern Rhône. Medium high acidity. Medium tannin with a very silky texture. Full body. Black plum, black cherry. Very Long finish. High alcohol so it needs a good 4h of decanting to be at its best. I would drink again with pleasure.

Although a Cote Rotie won the evening for me, the trio of Hermitage were my favorite group.

2006 vintage. Disappointing for me. Lost its way.
