Needs 3-5 more years. Fruit and oak need to come together.

Last stop on day one in Sonoma was at Patz & Hall Winery. First red wine is their Pinot Noir from the Moses-Hall Vineyard which is on the Napa side of Carneros.

Ruby red core with bricking on the edges. Elegant and ripe nose with notes of rose petals, jasmine and ripe raspberries. Tangy acidity on the palate (7/10) and medium bodied. Good amount of spices on the palate with some candied raspberries, strawberries and a touch metallic too in the medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2026. $$$

2014. Too soon is the only regret. Great depth and structure considering that its components are still getting comfortable with each other. There is a delightful splash of juiciness between the sleek midpalate and subtle finish that leaves you with a sense of brightness and a desire for the next sip. Terrific.

One whiff of the bouquet is worth the price of admission. Dark jammy fruits, touch of oak and herbs. Well done- @Donald Patz

One of my favorite Pinots. Great fruit and spice, with a finish that goes.

Dark ruby almost opaque.
Forrest floor, mushroom, black olive, and currants.
Lush soft start with light acidity up to a lightly astringent finish.
