Côte-Rôtie Syrah
Big olive on nose. Brown sugar, iron, and bloody steaks in mouf. Super good. 19 vintage. Decant for an hour opens this up big time.

Aug 12th, 2022Was okay but nothing special. Will try again in a few years. Some bacon, dark fruits, and tar but never in balance.

Jan 25th, 2021Edgy and untamed and extremely gamy - brilliant - hard to express except a mixture of black and blue fruit blended Syrah - will improve with three more years

Nov 2nd, 2020This remains a very feminine styled wine (as I recall from a bottle a few years ago). Nose requires some time to unfold, but eventually shows lots of lively crushed granite, cracked black peppercorns, blackberry skins, and a slight cured meat note. Lean and medium-bodied in the mouth, with savory, minerally flavors and crisp acids. It’s light but flavorful, and seems to have plenty of life left.

Jun 7th, 2020I love this estate and of course Côte Rotie in 15 is the sweet spot in the N. Rhone. Stunning nose. Bacon, violets, olive, deep red and black berry fruit. Mint, menthol, super mineral. So deep. The palate is an exercise in finesse and refinement which is what Côte Rotie should be. Medium bodied, super juicy, hint of oak, incredibly complex and deep, with terrific acid and freshness. Amazing length and so so deep and fresh. Wow what a finish with tiny berry fruit intensity. Stunning out of the bottle but better in 2 hours and even better in 15 years. Refined and elegant yet powerful and structured. So good.
