Dried, desiccated fruit. Juicy but not fruity. Fig, carob, baking chocolate. Dusty. Substantial VA on the nose makes you work for it. For Musar lovers.

Wow. So much going on in this wine. Attacks the palate in almost every way. Not for beginners lol

Wine lovers need to drink more Aglianico del Vulture. Dried roses, tobacco, dark fruits. Berry and spice finish.

Cigar box. Great complexity. Long.

Oak, fruity. Good balanced among concentration, fruitiness, spiciness etc. Soft tanning. Blueberry and black fruits. Tobacco, vanilla, chocolate nuance. 2013 @1880, Ascent -, 201224-201231

Mediocre Aglianico with only weak flavor followed by an acidic finish. Not worth its high price.

Dynamite! Deep ruby red, shiny and bright. Cinnamon spice, vanilla, and red berry nose. Sour cherry with dark chocolate on the palate, more like 97% cacao, medium plus acidity with high tannins and a long finish. This a great example of just how juicy and decadent Aglianico can be-- particularly from Basilicata.

Wow- incense from the church on the nose, with cedar notes and spice. So interesting- I think in let my nose sit in the glass for minutes before I even took a sip. Stewed tomatoes, Roses, umami and hint of park and stewed plums on the palate. Silky smooth. What a wine.
