Passorosso Terre Siciliane Nerello Mascalese
Similar to the notes I posted 172 weeks ago - still the same earthy savoury cherry but now a bit more smelly cow yard. Dirt and dried plum. This winery we visited a few years ago and is on the favoured northern slopes of Mount Etna.

Oct 16th, 2020Ripe, checking in at 14.5%, but not hot. Tannins firm but smooth. Cherries and dusty earth, violets. Elegant

Jul 20th, 2019Once again I fell in the pinot noir from Burgundy trap when blind tasting this wine. Balanced with fine barrel touch, already excellent.

Mar 20th, 2019I love this wine. Light body but just the right amount of grip. Earthy, mineral. Cherry/cranberry juice. Snappy acidity.

Feb 5th, 2019Spine of volcanic rocks, lots of nerve and tension across the palate. High acid and taut tannin balanced, like walking a tightrope. “Laser-like.” Smoke, crunchy red fruit, dried beef, fennel and saffron, savory herbs.

Feb 23rd, 2018@Delectable Wine - This is the Passorosso Etna Rosso DOC, not the Terre Siciliane.
Nose is complex, with a tiny bit of barnyard, loads of smoky rock minerality, and rich cherry fruit. Chiseled in the mouth, with equal parts cherry fruit and intense stoniness, bone dry, with very good acidity. Tenaciously clings to the palate as some soft but vigorous tannins show up in the finish. Really fine.
