Second of our seven year vertical tonight....Scratch that the 2014 came out too.

Deep garnet red. Rich nose with graphite, dark berries, sweet spices and purple flowers. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Layered palate with pencil shavings, black fruits, pepper and spices. Long and lingering finish with great structure. Drink till 2026.

Great final night dinner with Kale and Ranko Anderson. Second of the reds:
Super dark ruby red. Lovely nose with some crushed dark berries, dark floral notes and very light stones. Moderate tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Tons of layers in dark berries, both black and tight blue. Great depth and power. Decanted for two hours. Drink till 2026.

Thank you @David A Lentine for cracking open this beautiful wine!

Excellent Merlot, showed very well against some difficult competition. Medium ruby red with high intensity. No decant but nose was showing a mix of dark cocoa, baking spices and dark berries. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) with a rich and full body. Long finish showing similar characteristics to the nose. Delicious merlot as always. Drink till 2026.

07' Pahlmeyer Merlot. A pop & pour delight. This 07 is worth seeking out.

Finally arrived at David's.
This is my third or forth. Always love to come home to Pahlmeyer Merlot. Typical rich, sultry nose from this producer. Excellent texture and mouthfeel. Sandalwood and cinnamon to boot. Throwing a huge amount of sediment. This will sail on for years. Sublime.

07' Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red. This is quite nice right out of the gate. With a 2 hour decanting & this is even more expressive. A big bang wine & elegant at the same time. I love that style of wine! Big black fruits(Blackberry Jam) with no rough edges. Nice-moderate/light acidity. A long finish(30sec)...drinking window is NOW- many great years in it. I wonder what's tasting better now, this or the 2002?

Good god...
We tasted this approx. 5 years ago and this example has transformed itself from a viscous, exuberant infantile to this complex, ethereal example.
The nose is sexy with coffee, barrel toast and cloves. The palette is rich and powerful, yet somewhat restrained with dark chocolate, sweet tobacco and sweet caramel. Tannins are muscular yet polished. Acidity lines up perfectly. 15.2 abv does not make an appearance. This is arguably the best pure Merlot we have tasted.

This is actually the Merlot, which I find to be superior to the red blend. For a lower price, so far, the best wine I've had from Pahlmeyer.

Liquid velvet. Gorgeous and sultry, with blueberry preserves, vanilla bean, mulberry and a touch of spice. Cooling blueberry pie with buttered crust.
