Aged beautifully. Exotic pine and mint. Smells of the mountain. Blackberries. Wonderful wine.

Yup. Dark cherry, cedar/incense, mint, and wet slate aromatics. The 4 hour decant while at dinner served it well. Perfect example of a well integrated mountain fruit cab. Wish it was a magnum!

I just love Howell Mountain wines. Possibly my favorites in all of Cali! This is just starting to enter pop and pour territory, but not quite there just yet. Killer nose of crushed blackberries, graphite, sweet tobacco, with a voluptuous palate. Finish is not quite the tannic monster this was 3-4 years ago. Didn’t get to see this bottle to the end, so I would have loved to see how it evolved.

Fifth wine of the tasting and fourth Howell Mountain wine. Solid ruby red with slight herbs and dark berries on the nose. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10) and max a moderate body. Definitely needs time to open up. Some light mushrooms and dark berries on the attack. Slight heat and acidity in the long finish. Would love to try this in two or three years. Drink till 2026.

Extremely primary, cough drops and too much heat for now. Not the refined smooth Howell mountain fruit I expected. I still love these wines but this needs 3+ years minimum.....
Honestly opening wines like this so young is truly just user error. It's on me.

Intense, brooding fruit, with flavors of char and graphite. The nose brings a smile to my face!
