This was one of the few bad Champagnes that I have tasted this year, and I have withheld my rating on the off chance it was just the bottle. It was not corked, heat damaged or oxidized, so I am struggling to give it that benefit of the doubt. The wine was flabby in the extreme, super high in Ph, with strange, unnatural liqueur like aromas and flavors and a dead, short finish. I don't know how a major producer could let this get by them at any price, but at $200 this is scandalous. The quality was poor enough that I would have thought it would fail tasting by the CIVC.
