Halcon Vineyard Syrah

Rich and dark but with that cool climate crunch of acidity and whiffs of white pepper along with black cherry and blackberry.

It’s unreal how good these are in their youth. Lush black fruits abound with a velvety texture that provide so much depth without ever being heavy. Then the brambly and iron notes come in to provide complexity to the mid palate and carry on through the silky finish. Gorgeous wine, best Syrah I’ve had all year.

Thought I’d dip my toes into another ‘15 Halcon. Oh man this rocks, still no rush to open the next one. Packed from end to end with juicy Syrah goodness. Outstanding.

Not as open for early drinking as the las madres. Every halcon syrah i’ve had regardless of producer has been intensely structured and slow to unwind. This is no different. In spite of the 100% wc on the las madres this one seems like the longer ager of the two.

Most expressive fruit driven version from this vineyard. Impressive.

Game doesn’t suck, neither does the wine!

The palate reminded me of a liqueur kind of medicinal and manufactured.

WotN. Savory depth and elevation shines through. Wish I hadn’t eaten so early.

1st bottle was very off so opened a 2nd one. Nice acidity.
