A classic Napa Valley CS from an era where everything was about sheer size and brute force.
With zero points earned for elegance this will please folks in the “big & bold” camp.

Second time I’ve had this almost a year apart. Still overly tannic, despite its age.

Perfectly serviceable with steak, but otherwise overpriced and I can see how this landed on LastBottle.

This bottle is drinking relatively flat with no real depth or character. Acidic finish with more green fruit vs black or even red fruit. Drinkable and more value oriented when they were charging $50-60. Sadly disappointed.

Smooth and full bodied with silky smooth finish. I can tell its losing some complexity since the last time I had it.

Wow. Fruity, complex, smoother once it airs for 20 min. This is a must have.

There is a mild vanilla and medium oak flavor that stays through out the wine there are fruit flavor a but they are a bit masked. Although tough to pin point I would say black current characteristics are showing but no real fruit juices. The wine is dry and a bit alcoholic which takes a great deal away from the flavors. I tasted over a 4 hr decanting hoping for a change.... But only in the smoothness. Yes, the redeeming characteristic is that the wine is very smooth to drink, almost light for a cab. it is possible that it was a bit early to crack this one open, but the decanting should still allow some of the flavors to show through better. For the price point it is a very large miss, because there are better at this level. I have another in the cellar that I'll wait longer with and see if I feel different.

2009 was nice. I love Diamond Mt reds. This used 40% French Oak which smooth this out and showed the grape.
