The 2015 Mt. Brave Mt. Veeder Merlot is a fantastic showing from talented winemaker Chris Carpenter. This instanty begins to impress as it releases fantastic aromatics of tar, mocha and wild blackberries compote on the nose. The palate is plush, showing a marvelous texture and mouthfeel. Flavors of coffee grounds, anise, crème de cassis, red bell pepper and blackberry cobbler layer the palate. This is a simply remarkable Merlot that is already quite approachable, yet should continue to drink beautifully over the course of the next decade. Drink 2019-2035- 94

This is Mt Braves' Veeder Cab Franc. I believe this is a Chris Carpenter wine? Would love to drink this alongside La Jota's Howell Mountain Cab Franc (same winemaker). However, I have a feeling this would outlive the Howell. Incredibly tannic. Black and red in the glass. Blackberries, tar, charcoal and sweet nutmeg on the nose. Powerful texture. Lingering finish. Needed day 2 and even in to day 3 to reveal more plums, violet and spice.

Rich and ripe. Very Californian in my experience. Delicious. 80% new oak apparently which shows. Hard not to like if you like full flavoured wines.

10' Front & middle of the palate showing nicely. The back of the palate acidic, with a little light fruit.
Bed rock, licorice, spices are pronounced . A bottle that will age nicely.

#MothersDay comfort wine. Aromas of earth, wet stone and graphite. Flavors of ripe plum and berries with well integrated oak. 2011 more Bordeaux-like than California. #MtBrave #MountainWines

Blackberry, cassis, black cherry, licorice, eucalyptus, oak and hints of mocha. Great structure and moderate tannins.

Extremely impressive and opulent wine - the wine is extremely thick and almost glows with this neon purple hue. On the nose, there is plenty of creamy oak, but the wine maker has preserved some of the stress and menthol notes coming off the high altitude. The mouthfeel is as full bodied as anything, with not detectable heat. Good amounts of layered fruit and a slight touch of minerality moves into HUGE, scructured and long tannins. This wine is single vineyard and impressive. I would argue that it is better than anything Camus, Silver Oak or any of the other big name Napa guys do for the price.
