Toscana Vermentino

I like Moris a lot but this Vermentino was devoid of interesting qualities.

Serious mineral finish in the mouth but fruit in particularly muted by acid and minerality.

Dry, crisp, and rustic. Sharp citrus builds through the finish. Medium minus alcohol and high acid.

Happy Easter! Definitely unique. Nose has melons and squash. Wine starts off sweet but then has some bite to it. It almost seems confused as to what it wants to be. Probably wouldn’t try another bottle, but I could see others liking this.

Winery located in Maremma; Started prodn 2003 w/10% Trebbiano, switched to 10% Viognier in 2007; No oak aging, but rests on lees until 15 days before bottling

VEND T/NOTE: “intense & fruits w/scents of apricot & yellow flowers; aftertaste of mineral notes"

PAIRING: “appetizers, fish dishes or white meat"

Hay, cut green grass in the nose. A bit of an alcoholic end with food. Overall, solid.
