2010 vintage - visually clear, bright; now five years old the thin rim is brick red. True to form, roses dominate the nose, along with healthy doses of red (and some black) fruits, stewed. A vibrant herbal quality is also present: oregano, bay leaf, and thyme. Exciting acidity and very firm tannins drive the palate which also shows more of the red fruits, along with smoke, autumn leaves, and a gaminess than is distinctly similar to the smell of raw meat. I'm sure most folks would want to give this even a few more years, but I find it so entertaining right now!
