Decided to check in on this. Deep dark purple, opaque. Fruit intensive nose. Notes of peppery kirsch, some wood and herbs, and a little soil. One dimensional and still primary, even on day 2. Rich and powerful in the mouth. A bit hot too. Just short of age 20, I’m not sure where it’s going. Probably could say that about many 03s right now. I wanted to like it more but it didn’t move the needle that much. Gave it a lot of air and it didn’t budge. Might check in again on this in 10 years.

A monster. Massive, ripe, oaky, dense, overwhelming. Dr. pepper, black cherry, menthol, spice, tannic, ultra ripe, lactic. An impressive and undeniably delicious wine, but unrecognizable as Burgundy.
