Michel Rolland first went to Argentina in 1988, loved the country so he and Jean-Michel Arcaute, from Pomerol founded winery. A blend of 55% Malbec, 19% Merlot, 10% Cab Sauv, 12% Syrah and rest Petit Verdot & Cab Franc. Deep Ruby, purple edges, aromas of dark fruit oak and spice. The palate shows rich black fruit, blackberries and blueberries, smoky oak and pepper spice adding tobacco and leather with slight cacao and lively acidity. Fine tannins on a medium+ finish. Nice value, drink over near term.

Dark inky in color with a short purple rim.

Fruity nose with black currants, cherries, earth, leather, tobacco, oak, vanilla, cloves, dark coffee, pencil lead, vegetables, spices, metals and peppercorn.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, blackberries, earth, dark chocolates, tobacco, spices, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, herbs, coffee and peppercorn.

Spicy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a very enjoyable 5 year old Malbec blend from Argentina by Michel Rolland.

Showing nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. Nice to have all by itself or with food. A good sipping wine.

Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up, and shows some tannins.

Wine Spectator 91 points.

A blend of 58% Malbec, 23% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Syrah and 1% Petit Verdot.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

$16.

This is done by Michel Rolland. Perhaps, the most famous international consult out there.

On the nose; ripe, floral; blackberries, dark cherries, blueberries, black raspberries with some strawberries. Dark rich soil, black licorice, dusty top soil, and dark red florals & violets.

On the palate; the body is medium and the tannins dusty, tarry & sticky. The fruits are juicy; blackberries, dark cherries, blueberries, black raspberries with some strawberries. Dark rich soil, black licorice, light tarry notes, leather, dusty top soil, and dark red florals & violets. The acidity rains on the palate. The finish is well balanced and fruit driven landing on dry powdery tannins.

Photos of the Andes. It was the closest visit we had in proximity to them. Other vistas around the Properties.

NOSE: plum, tobacco, black cherry, earth…a little paint thinner.

TASTE: plum/cherry … not much different than the nose. Seems well made, but unimpressive for the price and reputation of the winemaker. 89.
