Pettarin Colli Orientali Del Friuli Ribolla Gialla
The new vintage does not disappoint. Well, they do, now do they?? Ending Pontoni is a master and this specific wine show his amazing skills and the variety’s true potential. Briadscaled and viscous with tropical notes, serious structure for ageing and bountiful acidity hiding in the background. It is indeed always a true pleasure to taste these rare gems, and while I’ve had better versions (splitting hairs), it’s still bloody impressive and a wine to seek out whatever the cost. Unique! 94+

Dec 9th, 2018My least favorite of the 2015 Miani whites. Less complex and interesting than anticipated. Citrus based with peach pit finish.

Mar 4th, 2018Waxy, rich and powerful, yet lithe and delicate, where honeyed stone fruits meet citrus and pronounced minerality. Stunning length and age worthy structure too.

Feb 16th, 2016Pretty cool stuff providing an array of flavors. The positively tart stone fruits are complemented by grilled Meyer lemons and chalky minerality, expanding on the layered and rewarding finish where an herbaceous twist add complexity and loads of interest. While the oak treatment is hardly visible, it does provide some positive spicy notes.

Feb 13th, 20162013; fat texture, almost Alsace-ian where gentle tropical fruits intermingles with grilled lemon flavors and basil pesto highlights. Odd in a way, but very complex.

Oct 19th, 20152013 vintage. Classy stuff! Refined and elegant, with enormous chalky soil presence, almost "overwhelming" in its minerality, yet with gorgeous, sun-drenched fruit, almost tropical, complemented by ripe citrus and freshly cut herbs. Hints of tannins add complexity to this round and full-bodied effort which boasts an explosive finish. Never had seriously old Ribolla Gialla, but it feels like this has the stuffing to age gracefully. 94+ p.
