Jul 12th, 2023I love a good Petite Sirah and this one doesn’t disappoint. I poured big because that was all that was left. Cheers!

Oct 29th, 2020Deep inky in color with a short purple rim.
Wonderful, extracted nose of blackberries, sweet cherries, raspberry pie, dried figs, tobacco, cedar, spices, vanilla, cinnamon, graphite, coffee, mocha, earth, licorice, light alcohol and peppercorn.
Full bodied, bold, rich and jammy, with medium acidity and long long legs.
Dry and extremely fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet plums, cherry pie, vanilla, oak, licorice, milk chocolates, tobacco, spices, mocha, dark coffee and peppercorn.
Long finish with firm tannins and black pepper.
This Petite Sirah is awesome. Nicely balanced with great complexity and a wonderful mouthfeel. Very tasty, rich and extracted. Not for everyone, though.
Needs an hour to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle too. Could use a few more years in the bottle to mature.
Delightful and delicious.
15.5% alcohol by volume.

2 people found it helpfulNov 4th, 2017The ‘13 Mettler Petite Sirah shows very dark color and very dark aromas. Black and blue fruit gets help from a savory streak full of leather, tobacco and black olives. That savory feel carries over onto the palate, which is as dark as the color and smells have advertised. This is a beautiful and complex example of Petite Sirah, sometimes fancy, sometimes rustic. It’s an elegant wine masquerading as a roughneck. It hits 15.5% abv and retails for $25.
