Melka
Majestique Paso Robles Syrah
Phillipe Melka has now been sourcing from the ‘Paderewski Vineyard’ for several years. This wine is quite simply Paso Robles at its finest. Inky and deep once in the glass, this takes on chocolate cake tones alongside tar and black licorice with black olive tapenade tones rounding out this evocative nose. The palate is deep, intense and downright delicious. Not only quite massive, but the err of freshness with a light salinity imparted is really impressive. Deep dark currants and black cherry cordial mingle with coffee ground flavors on the palate. Utterly sensational in its youth, this has another fifteen years of life ahead of it. Drink 2020-2033- 96

Sep 4th, 2020Interesting wine and agree with brother @Shawn R from reading his posting of the 2012 vintage that this not a PnP
I felt like at first I opened a baby as not the nose I was expecting but had to warm up
Once warmed up the wine was extremely Paso oriented which was deep garnet color with extreme dark fruit florals on the nose complimenting the flavor - throughly enjoyed this Melka version of Paso Syrah - bravo Philippe

From a mag shared with The WNH in San Diego on a night of Burgs. That’s how we roll.

May 3rd, 2018I lost my notes, so rebooting...
Impressive wine. Opulent nose of caramel, spice box and fresh dough. Excellent palate. Nuanced and textured. Notes of new leather, red and black fruits, with a fleshy showing. Finishes with white pepper. A stunning example

Such an exotic nose. Even Melka is on the Paso wagon. Would like to compare this to the Arkenstone in a side by side Syrah showdown! Not a pop and pour.

May 25th, 2017Incredible evolving nose. Started out funky (in a good way) tires, burnt pork fat. After an hour or so giving way to black fruit esspresso bean and dark choc. Palate is lively and fresh with blackberry, lots of spice and fresh bright acidity. Fantastic!

Nov 8th, 2015100% Syrah from Paso Robles. Lots of berry fruit. Hint I tobacco and baking spices. The label represents what happens when you finish the bottle.
