Melka
CJ Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend
Just tasted at big box store. Philippe and Cherie Melka have been creating wines since 1996 with the releases of the CJ and Metisse wines. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits with spice and oaky notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry and plum with licorice and toasty cacao. Tannins are firm, grippy and harsh, medium finish ending tannic with fruit and spice. Pass not worth the price tag.

Dec 16th, 2023Philippe and Cherie Melka have been creating exceptional wines since 1996 with the releases of the CJ and Metisse wines. Deep Ruby with pronounced aromas of dark berry fruits with spice and oaky notes. On the palate flavors of fresh blackberry and plum with licorice and toasty cacao. Tannins are firm but opens quickly, long finish ending with fruit and toasty spice. Tasting great, still has room to run.

Mar 10th, 2022Another highly detailed set of notes lost by Delectable! Guys come on, I'm working here...
I'll try to remember what I had written, but now it won't be as eloquent. Muddled blue/black fruit on the nose and palate. Hints of black olive, anise, bell pepper. Full, round, satisfying body. Medium plus alcohol, medium acidity, firm yet smooth tannins. Super long finish. Hold or more fun... DRINK!

Smooth as a thick silk scarf and loaded with cassis and black fruit. Not near as complex as the Jumping Goat we had but a strong effort and so easy to drink.

Apr 25th, 20212010 vintage, bought while living in Napa. This wine impressed me in 2012 and still does after 8 years in the bottle. Philippe Melka is a genius. Wish I had more!

Nov 24th, 2019It's time for my Friday's Cabernet fix. delicious Napa Cab.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Strong nose of blackberries, black currants, cooked cherries, figs, raisins, light alcohol, cedar, vanilla, licorice, spices, light cloves, chocolates, mocha, coke and dark coffee.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, blueberries, sweet strawberries, oak, vanilla, chocolate cake, coffee, earth, light vegetables, pencil lead, tobacco and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is delicious. This is from a great vintage (2012) and it is showing. Rich and extracted with nice complexity and mouthfeel. I liked the tangy ending.
This 7 year old is drinking very nicely now and will be good in the next 5 to 7 years. Needs 3 hours to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle.
A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 8% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 18 months in (30%) New French oak barrels.
Thank you Wendy for sharing this with me.
15.2% alcohol by volume.
