100% Cab Sauv from Stagecoach vineyard, deep Ruby with purple hues, aromas of dark berry fruits with notes of nutty sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and ripe black cherry with cacao, tobacco and citrus zest. Fine tannins with good backbone, long finish ending with currant fruit, nutty oak and earthy character. Nice, this will still age well, small production.

Beautiful, complex Cabernet from Napa Valley. Plentiful in blackberry, licorice and appropriate amounts of oak. Gave it about 45 mins to open up and it is really showing great. 10 years of time in the bottle really did some good things for this wine.

Only the second vintage of Maze we have tried, last being the 2010.

Deep purplish ruby red. Layered and Rich nose with dark spices, dark raspberries, cinnamon, brown sugar, a touch of anise and Asian five spices. Heavy tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Rich palate with tons of structure. Voluptuous with notes of tobacco, dried violets, more floral notes, bramble berries and a ton of sweet spices. Long and lingering finish. Definitely has quite a bit of potential. Drink till 2030. | Sample

Loved it. But I have a bias. Everything Mark Herold is pretty awesome in my opinion. Would be a ten if it hung on the tongue a bit longer. Pair it with red meat (brilliant insight)

Deep ruby red. Definitely from a cooler vintage. Notes of bell pepper, wet earthiness, and some red berries. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus body. Spiced palate, a bit savory, earthy, red berries, herbal, and quite a bit of bell peppers. Medium plus finish. Drink till 2023.

Not as big as the last time we had this wine. Can go for a few years but will begin to lose its fruit and become more herbaceous.

Moderate plus tannins (6.5/10) and moderate body with dust and cassis with a touch of cinnamon. Rich and slightly extracted. Rest of note on blog.

Man, this cab had my taste buds singing hallelujah! Like rich, melted dark chocolate and raspberries, cedar box on the nose, dry tobacco leaf, cinnamon, dried fig, and a HUGE body, with a well integrated tannin and a gripping finish. Mark Herold, you're a monster of a wine maker! Of course a bit different from Kamen or Heston, but it's clearly his bigger than life style. This should age very nicely and is still aproachable now. Advocate gave it a 93 and so will I!

Great color, but not worth the $100 price tag. Tastes like a $70 bottle.
