A slightly browned end to the first whiff. Wood and tobacco and intensity. Not like many Pinot but rich and tasty. Good.

Broad plummy fruit, a slightly feral edge on the nose. A little tired on the edges and clipped on the finish.

I would say that this Pinot rides the fence of it's not all that compelling but still very drinkable. It's very simple and straightforward. Cherries, strawberries, some chalk, not much minerality and finishes with fruit that really doesn't shine. Ok yet disappointing vs. expectation/hope! It does darken up (blackberries & dark cherries) a bit and showed some smokiness & spices after an hour in the decanter.

Shockingly youthful acid. Brightness shines through under relatively restrained secondary notes of dust cedar dried leaves. Savory on the finish.

Bright, singing, still fresh and from '86. It's good to know @Jimmy Hayes.
