It's football season mother f'ers!! 🏈 my favorite time of year. This is a very plush easy drinking merlot. It comes off very low in alcohol with a cherry fruit core and chocolate covered plum flavors. The finish doesn't have significant length but this is a very well made plump and pleasurable bottle.

Steve Matthiason is hands on with the care of his vineyards. I was fortunate enough to visit during NVV premier week. After standing in the Red Hen Vineyard I can taste my experience when drinking this wine.

The freshness. The focus and purity. The zingy acid through line amid grainy fine tannin and exceptional clarity of fruit. Light and dense, with haunting depth and cigar fruit briar aromatics. Gosh. Darn. Awesome.

Excellent merlot in something of a Francophile style. Steve says bay leaf and cherry and I can sense that. Good structure and tannins pull on the finish. Maybe a hint of dark chocolate in the mix.

Fruity, easy to drink, but not that complex.

Oh my. Great fragrance. Has aged into a perfect mix dryness and subtle fruit. A top Merlot. August 2019.

Mostly red fruited, medium bodied highly perfumed nose (some potpourri?), very subtle oak. A nice wine, and ready to go.
