Matthiasson
Limerick Lane Vineyard Zinfandel
I can appreciate the effort but earlier picked Zin lacks a few things that I think make a red Zinfandel most enjoyable. It might be early to drink this on my part (and I have a slight sensitivity to tannin right now with a lower sinus infection), but the tannin was a little raw imo. Good acidity and fresh fruit, just out of balance on the finish with the gnarly, chewy, dry tannin. ๐บ๐ธ๐ฆ๐ท

Feb 18th, 2016After dinner bottle. Dark fruit and subtle spice. Medium plus depth. I donโt drink much Zin, so this seemed decent.

Dec 5th, 2021Chocolate and pepper with a light body and firm acidity. Not a typical zin by any means.

Oct 21st, 2017Had two bottles of this. One I drank too soon, this was number two. Unbelievable. Made me wish I had waited longer on both. Amazing bramble and spice, in my opinion more structure and weight on the second pass, but such a beautiful synergy of components. Waiting on Matthiasson reds should be mandate, another example of truly remarkable classically styled wine.
