Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and citrus fruits with floral and herb notes. On the palate flavors of apple, peach, melon and lemon citrus zest, with notes of honey and herbs. Medium+ finish ending with fruit, balanced acidity and floral mineral character.

Great new find for me. 42% Ribolla Gialla, 35% Tocai Friulano, 17% Chard, 6% Pinot Blanco. Pleasant 11.8% ABV fit in well for our Mothers Day Celebration

Massican never disappoints. Mild lemon, sea water, minerality. Just plain good.

Myer lemon, unripe pear, white flowers, crushed shells. Just ordered a mix Massican case of the 2021’s…to start. Pairs so well with oysters.

Interesting - and yes I know it’s a “hip” wine on virtually every list on the east coast. But I’m more like …meh. Very easy to drink, and a crowd pleaser, but don’t give this to the Kim Crawford drinkers at your bar.

So what does it mean for a wine to be “drinkable?” We tend to throw that word around a lot in wine writing or criticism, but what does it really mean? For me it’s a perfect combination of seamlessness and deliciousness. Seamless in that there’s no single texture, flavor, or sensory quality of the wine that sticks out and calls attention to itself. Deliciousness in the delight of its flavors and aromas. The combination makes bottles disappear soooooo fast. Clearly I did not buy enough bottles of this wine, which offers a stunningly easy-to-drink melange of white flowers, Asian pears, apple, and pomelo pith layered over a stony core shot through with seawater. A blend of 48% Tocai Friulano, 41% Ribolla Gialla, and 11% Chardonnay, it’s one of California’s most iconic white wines in my book. 2018 Massican “Annia” White Blend, Napa Valley, CA. Go @danpetroski, go! ⁣

Over ripe lemon, herbal medicine, crushed stone, lingering finish.
