At a bar/restaurant an bartender gave me a taste. Derived from the Italian word sasso, meaning stone, referring to the abundance of limestone in the area, which creates a reflective quality in the vineyards. Dark Ruby with big berry aromas and earthy spice. On the palate blackberry with notes of cacao, dry tannins, noted acidity on medium finish. Ok for price but needs big food dish, like pasta. Tasting Sample.

Good little #Primitivo #wine. Balanced throughout. Wishing the depth and finish lasted.

Smooth wild berry, easy acidity and mold tannin.

Had with jalepeno flank steak and it held up nicely.

Dark purple in color with a purplish rim.

Soft nose of blueberries, strawberries, cherries, licorice, oak, vinaigrette, dark chocolates, earth, leather, dirt, black pepper and spices.

Full bodied, but not bold, with medium plus acidity and nice legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, raspberries, unripe strawberries, cloves, licorice, oak, bitter herbs, citrus(?), light vegetables, wet stones, graphite and peppercorn.

Nice finish with fine grained tannins and tart cherries.

A nice everyday red wine from Italy. Earthy, with lots of red fruits and vegetables. Not very balanced yet, but has enough complexity to make it interesting and drink by itself. A Good food wine too.

Would probably benefit from another couple of years in the bottle. Needs 30 minutes to open up properly and show some tannins.

Aged for 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

Nose of tart stone fruit with hint of funk. Strong taste of sour cherries, licorice, and earthiness. The finish coats the tongue and leaves sour aftertaste. Full bodied hardy wine,

This Primitivo (aka Zinfandel) is so drinkable. Great depth with a soft sweetness on finish
