Martin Woods
Bednarik Vineyard Pinot Noir
Huge spice on the nose. Cinnamon and allspice. Very Volnay 1er cru. Palate is high acid and so juicy but with semi decadent sweet, mid season cherry, stunning freshness. But closed and coiled initially. Now the nose js getting that 4d aspect. High acid, grainy texture, tannins are refined, they come across as lacey, and there is a restrained intensity, So insane. But needs 3-4 hours to get there. I will be back. Finish is epic. After 7 hours this is so epic. Nose is allspice, deep cranberry. Palate is so red fruited and spicey. Very long and unreal tannins but it’s still holding back.

Aug 31st, 2024Bottle #1 of the night. Cranberries on the nose, a touch of white pepper, delicate, great structure and a finish you’re going to love.

Feb 25th, 2023Huge nose, black and red cherries and super ebullient. Super floral. Super expressive nose. What a fruit soak. Terrific acidity and freshness. Black fruits. Pure. So long. More open than 19 Jessie James. Showing so well.

Jan 12th, 2023Gorgeous herbaceous nose. Beguiling mid to late cherry and a top note of an 18th century German Apotheke. Really fragrant, clear and vivid. Cola, cherry flower and loads of intense minerality. Really firing on all cylinders. Tree bark. Undergrowth. Just so complex. Palate is stuffed with structure, sappy vivid fruit and a banging long finish. Really long. Superb purity and density. But remains elegant and nimble. Wow this is long. Great inner mouth aromas and so juicy. This will get better with air but 9.4 off the bat. This ramps up the finesse as it gets air. Sweeter fruit as well but not too sweet.

Mar 30th, 202213.5%. 35% whole cluster. Very Burgundian in style. Herbaceous from the clusters, hint white pepper, very earthy, bark, big time elderberry, touch black cherry, dried black currants, quite tannic. Coiled. Needs to integrate. Very nicely done probably a benchmark Pinot for Oregon in 3-4 years. Highly recommended if you are getting out of Burghs. Congrats Lyle.

1 person found it helpfulJan 22nd, 2022Superbly complex nose. Mid season cherry, smoke, herbs, deep fruit, tea, spice, perfect sour cherry as well, so refined and gorgeous. Palate is elegant and refined with intense sour cherry fruit and substantial structure and tannins. Really fine. Such terrific tiny berry fruit intensity. Another wine that needs 2-6 hours to open up. These are so up my alley. After some air gorgeous florals. The most structured of them all. Like a Corton.
