Sep 2nd, 2021Wow. Gorgeous elegant fruit on the nose. I swear it smells like fruity spatlese for a second there. Orange, cream, minerals, and so delicate and elegant. Really haunting aromas. Gorgeous complexity. Wow. Really just divine aromas. Earth, cream, citrus and minerals. Really just a stunning nose but super refined and subtle. 9.5 nose. Palate is elegant and refined and man is this delicate and elegant. Yes, elegant. Acid is a bit less than 2019 but this is so lacey and delicate. What it lacks in that 19 energy it makes up for with its haunted delicacy and laciness. Mouthwatering and long. Compact. Ethereal. Good depth and concentration. Really mineral as it airs out.

Has that exciting tension of the ripeness of Spatlese but the angularity of the Trocken style. Beautiful nose of juicy, barely ripe peach and mouthwatering apple, along with clean Slate minerality. Fantastic acids in the mouth. An upfront wallop of fruit quickly transitions to a lean lemon zest/mineral palate. Finishes light, lean, and juicy. Will last and improve several more years.

Takes an hour or so (and some warming up) to start to come together. Then the nose shows complex scents of honey, vivid tropical fruit and some peach notes, high toned green herbs and incredibly clean slate. Flavorful and clingy yet light as a feather in the mouth. Remarkable purity. Hard to put down. Such balance and elegance.
