Markus Molitor
Alte Reben Saar Riesling
Vintage 2021 | tasted blind | obviously very young, rather one dimensional

Jun 25th, 2024A classic fruity 'feinherb' Riesling from the Mosel. Juicy lemons and limes, well rounded (11.5%) with crunchy acidity. Great with medium weight Thaifood. Luk Chin Ping with Thai style seafood sauce.

Fruit is tart and zesty. Strong minerality.

Sep 19th, 2015Normally I’m not a big fan of Molitor, as I find his style a bit too petrol’y for my taste.
But this Saar Riesling just shines - weightless and completely effortless but with such precision and mineral depth. Beautifully poised & balanced with shy white peach and lemons and a mineral slatey backbone with a touch of spice towards the finish.
Such a nice wine!

Great acid and sweetness level; lacking complexity but definitely solid

Fine Rieslings Night
Tasted blind with its visavi same wine, same vintage, but not Alten Reben (old vines).
This one seems more closed. Herbal, camomile,
expressively mineral, iodine. Seems very young and nervous.
I doubt it will ever shine and will be as approachable crowd pleaser as its regular version. So I scored it less.
