Clos de Mez Morgon Gamay

Lovely nose of brambly red fruits, red berries, huge minerals, cranberry bog and strawberry. Really lovely nose that is very layered and ethereal. Terrific power and depth while remaining elegant and classy. Chewy and ripe tannins that are barely sweet and so much energy and length. Big cherry and berry fruit on the palate slathered in minerality.

Nose starts out reticent but clean and pure. Dynamite cherry and raspberry fruit. Now the cherry, raspberry and light red licorice notes are backed up by terrific minerality. Bright and has lift. Palate is fresh and energetic with wonderful ripe and juicy tannins and really noteworthy freshness. Gamay as vin de garde here and this is showing so fine. Power, depth, concentration but also finishes with true classy minerality. A great showing.

Best Clos de Mez Morgon ever. Stunning nose. Black raspberry, blue raspberry, superbly mineral, leather and floral. Truly a wow nose. Just a hint of funk adds so much allure. Palate is ripe and juicy with an almost pastille like quality. Amazing juiciness and purity. Dense but light. Complex and what a mouthfeel. Amazing. You HAVE to age these. First one that is finally delivering after 8 years. Haven’t had in 4 years and just wow.

Gorgeous wine. Big cherries and such intense minerality. Young but so so fine. Super structured with ripe and juicy fruit and such intensity. Sappy and dense with a long finish. This is a baby as these take and age forever. What a finish. Check back in 5 years.

Nose is a bit funky out of the gates but once it gets going, lovely cherry’, berry, stoney earthy, floral and feral. Palate is loaded and stuffed to the gills with chewy dense Gamay fruit. Amazing structure and density of fruit. Ripe tannins but firm. So good.

Could have held for a few more years! Bright. Structured. Good fruit but not tooty fruity Gamay. A bunch of green herbs makes it particularly interesting.

Deep dark berry aromas with a cooling mint element. Juicy and structured on the palate with classic CDM mouth-coating tannins. Super ripe yet graceful. Long juicy finish.

Completely new, yet familiar to me in style, but not the usual Gamay as this is sans carbonic treatment. Technically Valle du Rhone is in the Rhone and not Burgundy, and this shows that big time. Smoke, charcoal, garrigue stained red and black fruits, great acidity and minerality. Really cool stuff!

Amazingly complex nose. Small red fruits. Gorgeous purity. These are very very special. Huge tannin but so ripe. Very pure.

Been chilling my Beaujolais lately. Really good on these warm days. Cherry, citrus/grapefruit, cinnamon jolly rancher.
