Mari Vineyards
Old Mission Peninsula Gamay Noir

This wine is made from the grape of Beaujolais, Gamay, but grown on Michigan’s Old Mission Peninsula. It has a medium ruby hue and smells of the earth. Coffee and tea notes dance across dark fruit on the nose and palate. Acidity is quite fresh and the finish lasts a good while. Just another fine bottle from a state that really needs to get more recognition for its wines.

A really compelling bottle, smelling just faintly of patchouli and tasting of berries laced with the same. Great acidity and excellent personality. If you’ve never had Michigan wine before this would be a heck of a place to start.

Bought this on vacation in June 2019. Drank it tonight in quarantine. Worth the wait!

Spicy pepper on the nose, nice berry taste with a lingering nice finish.
