Arcturos Sauvignon Blanc 2016

This pale yellow Sauvignon Blanc shows new world grassiness on the nose, along with lemon, grapefruit and minerals. On the palate there is citrus, intense minerality and great acidity. The finish bears a clean citrus note. It's very drinkable, and very pairable. — 9 days ago

Old Mission Peninsula Gamay Noir 2017

This wine is made from the grape of Beaujolais, Gamay, but grown on Michigan’s Old Mission Peninsula. It has a medium ruby hue and smells of the earth. Coffee and tea notes dance across dark fruit on the nose and palate. Acidity is quite fresh and the finish lasts a good while. Just another fine bottle from a state that really needs to get more recognition for its wines. — 2 months ago

Simply delicious. Great fruity deliciousness. It’s winter now, but I can’t wait to drink it in the summer. And spring. — 3 months ago

Hawthorne Vineyards

Old Mission Peninsula Rosé Blend 2016

This wine looks, smells and tastes like an elegant Pinot Noir despite the fact that the grapes gets fourth billing. Cabernet Franc, Pinot Meunier and Merlot lead the way, with Gamay bringing up the rear. The color is very strong for a rosé, and the Meunier brings a note of Champagne to the mix while the Cab Franc is pronounced on the palate. This drinks like a red wine without the tannic structure. It's very pleasant and leaves a bit of tea on the finish. Quite nice. — 2 months ago

Old Mission Peninsula Pinot Noir 2012

So very glad this bottle survived the club shipment sent to us while living in NorCal, and the subsequent move back to Chicago. An absolute stunner of what the OMP is capable of delivering given enough time and patience. The harshness of youth washes away and reveals this interwoven fabric of forest floor, dark cherry, and acidity to balance the dance. Not as multilayered as other regions, but a perfect example of Brys in all its glory. — 2 months ago

Chateau Grand Traverse

Dry Riesling 2017

This bone-dry Michigan Riesling is a mineral-driven wine. Light golden in color, it has a nose of citrus peel and a wet driveway. The aromas aren't terribly complex, but as Spencer Tracy said, “What’s there is cherce.” On the palate there are flavors of lemon and lime with a chalky minerality. Acidity is almost racy, certainly zippy enough to handle a sandwich or salad. The finish is lengthy and reminiscent of an older vintage Riesling, quite nice. — 3 months ago

Easily one of my favorite dry reds. Delicious with a big dinner or just having friends over for wine and charcuterie tasting. — a month ago
