Marchesi Mazzei
Siepi Castello di Fonterutoli Toscana Super Tuscan Blend
Amazingly peaking super Tuscan. Still powerful with plenty of red fruit. Well balanced with minearlity and cassis, blackberry liquorish. Superb. Much different than the previous bottle.

Aug 12th, 2017Nice super Tuscan with cherry and tar with silky tannin. Lacks a bit of depth but and aging well. Goes very nicely with a traditional beef Wellington. Merry Christmas everyone.

Aug 7th, 2016We finished off with another Super Tuscan from Mazzei, the 2005 Siepi which is a beautiful bottle. The Sangiovese and Merlot combine to produce a very drinkable yet well structured wine. The nose has fruit notes and then leather, tobacco and hints of chocolate. This wine is ages for 18 months in small oak barrels so the tannins are still very much present nearly a decade later. We decanted the bottle and I would argue we didn't give it nearly enough time to open up, however it was very enjoyable.
