Enjoyable, solid value Brunello Di Montalcino at €22 across Milan train station. Notes of cherry plum and blackberry fruits combine with a complex mixture of smokey vanilla undergrowth which imparts earthy leather undertones. Medium body. Decent 2hr min, as there are strong tannins (Also probably drinking this a few years young) for a 2014 in 2020.

A good start when it comes to aroma, taste and overall balance, but average halfway through. It proved a poor pairing with a selection of strong cheeses and Parma ham - my tastebuds were so overloaded that something stronger was required. As it happened, this Brunello tasted almost watery at certain stages. Lesson learned: a good offering, but better enjoyed with lighter meals.
