Cornas Syrah

Part of the same generation as Verset, Gentaz and Trollat, Juge is old school Syrah at its finest. These rare bottles can be highly variable but this was the most perfect showing I’ve had from Juge. It’s everything you want from Syrah, vibrantly energetic, brimming with elegance and a wild complexity with earth, spice, wild berries and smoky minerals. Exceptionally balanced and detailed, this is perfect Northern Rhône.

Consumed over several hours and this was all about “a point in time”. The rotation of red and green flavors reminded me of a roulette wheel. Olives and red fruits played a game of hide and seek, occasionally teaming up with tobacco and darker fruits. Intense yet so seductive. Would have liked a longer finish. A wine that I can see being very polarizing due to the assertiveness of its many components..

Young. Duh!! But it is all there. No formal notes. Stunning fruit. Needs 20+.

What?!!! I thought I was just trying this wine so young because it would probably be my only chance, but this tastes great right now!!! The nose screams classic Juge Syrah, very savage with all of the campfire! This is not at all shut down, but it will obviously age for a long time.

This needs 5 more years. It's all angles today. Very very promising but hide this.
