M. Chapoutier
Tournon Mathilda Shiraz
Complex; plums, herbs, white pepper...classic Syrah aromatics. I've finally figured out that this less ripe version of Syrah pairs beautifully with tomato sauced dishes.

Good acid and drive with a really intense black olive and herb note. I almost like this wine but there is virtually no tannins. I feel like this is a missed opportunity.

I don't know what it is about French winemakers trying to stick to a single grape sometimes. They are masters of blending, so why not stick to it?
The wine is a touch flat for what it is until you let it open. After that, it comes to life. If you want to really enjoy it, don't concentrate on the nose. Swish like you would an Italian Barbera, and let the black pepper and blackberry come out.

$14.99, explodes with sweet floral notes followed by crisp notes of pears and peaches on a medium bodied palate

Feb 10th, 2016Kaleidoscope of true Syrah aromas not overpowered by uber alcohol. Peppery dark fruit and smooth finish. Ripe fruit but style more French than Australia.

Jan 8th, 2016Decaying fruit coupled with old world Syrah earthiness. Finish diminishes quickly and isn't very memorable. Med+ body, med acidity, med - finish.
