July 4th Friday was a total blowout! Killer bottles one after another. Here are just a few of the bottles we all enjoyed!

Label looks a bit questionable but the wine was sound. Less meat/smokiness to it than expected (but I wasn’t able to stick around and see if the last bit changed with more time). Dark floral notes, Chinese five spice, black pepper aromatically with muddled rhubarb and some iron at the finish. Holding strong.

Very fine and ethereal. The bouquet developed over the course of the meal continually changing. Violets and spices and herbs. The acidity was still bright, the tannins faded to very fine and on the tail end. Gentle hints of fruit but mostly secondary flavors. Overall came across as quite delicate and refined.

Fortunate to have friends with more patience than me. That realization you had when jumping from a $15 bottle to a $100...that's what happened when I sipped on this bad boy. What I knew is not what I know.
