Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2021 pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium plus viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe red and black fruit: Morello cherry, raspberries, pomegranate, roses, fresh asphalt, talcum powder, dry green herbs, gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and a touch savory. In general, the 2021’s are strutting at this early stage and it’s hard to say if they will shut down like the 2010 and 2013 vintage or keep delivering the goods like the 2016 vintage. Regardless, the future is long and bright. Drink now with patience and through 2061.

At first tons of tar, iron and leathery spice. The more it sits in the glass the floral notes really come out. Lots of grip as to be expected.

The nose stunning, showing intense bright cherry, spice. Tobacco, rose, minerals, black earth. On the palate, '09 vintage-fruit intensity was offset by firm tannin in an unexpectedly classic expression of young Serralunga nebbiolo. Dried cherry, minerals and spice prevailed throughout the finish. This is a beautiful Barolo.

Tasted the 2010 and 2012 vintages side by side. I preferred the '10 while the hubby favored the more fruit forward '12.
