A tragedy of oak influence. The year+ in 50% new barrique covers up anything delicate or charming about Pinot Noir. Single vineyard. 14.5% alc. Seems a shame to not focus on what the fruit can say.
You get what you’re paying for, and you’re paying for new oak.

All that said, if you’re for an “in your face” style of Pinot you may love it. It’s no doubt well made. Savory, chocolate, red licorice. Lower acidity than you’d expect from Pinot. Just not my cup of tea.

Beautiful nose...extremely well balanced. Great expression of the SLH terroir!

2012 Lucienne Pinot Noir, Doctor's Vineyard, this is a step up from the SLH in terms of ageability. More tightly coiled at this stage and there is complexity under the surface here. What's showing now? Chocolate, layers of strawberry and bing cherries and a hint of tobacco.

Full bodied for a Pinot, robust and smooth.

Lucienne Doctors Vineyard is one of the finest Pinot Noir‘s available in California today. It is medium bodied with a bright acidity as you would expect, but Lucienne also brings and earthy spice, with warm vanilla.
No matter how many times I have this wine I always enjoy it.

Spicy red fruit nose of cherry, cinnamon, clove, and plum. More cherry and spice on the palate along with raspberry, cranberry, and cherry cola. A bit hot with high alcohol, high acid, and low tannins.

We had the 2014 Vintage on 10/1-2/20. This is a good, full bodied, fruit forward Pinot Noir. The lead flavor on the bouquet and palate is black cherry. There is some oak and sweet spice. The tannins need to be smoothed with the aerator. I would buy more.
