Laborde Double Select Uco Valley Syrah

Laura Catena, a 4th generation winemaker who grew up in a traditional Argentine-Italian winemaking family in Mendoza. The wines are named after her children - Luca, Dante and Nicola - the background of the label is the McDermott coat of arms of her American husband, Daniel McDermott. Single-vineyard wine from land belonging to the Laborde family. Deep red with big ripe fruits and smoky oak. On the palate plum and jammy blackberry, spice with nice earthy character. Tannins are a bit rustic, lingering ending with toasty oak and spice. Nice value.

We had the 2013 Vintage on 1/14/24. Tastes and scents of blackberry, plum, mocha and pepper. Turned out pretty good considering the cork was bad. A little darker and minerality than the Monte’s from Chile.

Nice wine, full bodied, long finish, oak noticeable

Drinks more like a Rhône than new world. Savory plum, leather, mild spice.

Last wine of the day. Not bad for my favorite varietal.

That's a keeper. Ripe fruit and robust body.

Bold, full bodied, balanced, tannins just right, would purchase again
