68’ Louis Martini Private Reserve California Mountain. 12% ALC , how I love that !! Always fun to try some great vintages from the past. Nose had a gamey small to it. As expected… No fruit, smoky & savory herb notes, touch of gamey notes on the finish as well. Smooth, picked up steam after 15 minutes in the decanter. Acid appeared for about 10 minutes or so. Fun bottle of a combination of Napa/Sonoma Mountain fruit.

In better shape than I am, at the same age... Beautiful balance, appropriate fruit, a little bit of remaining tannin holds the whole thing together. Quite elegant and a pleasure to experience Napa Cabernet from a time when winemakers didn't feel compelled to "push the envelope" but instead just made wine.

Still alive and kicking. Had us guessing all kinds of different grapes and continents.

1974 still showing well but time to drink them is now. Good color if ever so slightly dull. Nice and elegant delicate fruit. Pretty wine.
